The Steele County Free Fair is this week, and I have to admit, I've spent quite a bit of time there. Not only did I ride the Kamikaze and eat many things on a stick, but I also had the privilege of getting interviewed on the main stage about being Miss South Central's Outstanding Teen. Talking to my community about the Miss America Organization was such a great opportunity, because I knew so many of them had the wrong impressions of pageants. I felt that this was my chance to plant the seed about just how beneficial and fun pageants are. When they asked me about my platform, I explained that it revolved around positive body image, and loving the body you're blessed with. The reaction I got from that audience was so inspirational. They applauded as I explained that we need to focus on making ourselves beautiful on the inside, and at the same time, care for the body that represents us on the outside. The support I received was so motivational in my mission to spread the word about true beauty. I felt I was able to enlighten my community members, and I hope I really encouraged other girls to get involved in pageants.
