I was so excited to be invited back to St. Mary's this afternoon. I got to read my platform book "Shapes Ville" to one of the adorable kindergarten classes and ask them questions about their favorite quality about themselves and their friends. Then we passed a hand mirror around the circle and picked out our favorite feature and told why we liked it. It was so cute to watch them studying their faces in the mirror. I also got to present my platform to another 6th grade classroom. After a power point, some videos, and a question and answer session, we used magazine pictures to create what we thought a human would look like based on what the media advertised. Seeing what the kids came up with was funny and also eye opening. It showed us the unattainable flawlessness the media influences us with. This was definitely a day well spent!
